I think it was actually written from the perspective of a ditzy idiot. This chick found herself in a brighter and more colorful world, meets all these fun if stupid guys and all she wants to do is go home to her horrible farm. :| And everyone was obsessed with these sparkly shoes. I might have had a pair almost like them but that's not the point.
