Natsumi went through her wardrobe, looking for a skirt. Half an hour later, she sat helplessly on her bed.
“Who are you kidding, Natsumi? Since when do you wear a skirt?” she mumbled on her bed.
“Baka Sho! Ba~~ka!!” she cried, screaming her heart out.
“Oi! I'm not stupid, okay!”
The voice made Natsumi jump off of the bed. She was startled to see Sho at her bedroom door, leaning with his back to the wall. Sho threw a paper bag at her, and she looked inside.
“A skirt? Are you mocking me or what? I DO own a skirt.”
Sho chuckled. He moved towards the wardrobe and began inspecting Natsumi's clothes.
“I cannot see any skirt in there. By the way, that is Mai's. Just remember that I am doing you a favour and saving you from borrowing your mom's skirt for tomorrow,” he said as he walked out of the room. Natsumi could still hear Sho's voice talking with her mom downstairs. She looked at the skirt once again.
“Since when was luck on Sakurai Sho's side? Isn't he the person with the worst luck ever?”
Natsumi hugged the red bunny doll that Sho gave her. She touched her left cheek, and a smile appeared on her face. She could still feel Sho's soft lips touching her cheek. The sound of the door snapped Natsumi from her daydream. Her mother was standing at the door holding a file in her hand. Slowly, she walked towards Natsumi and sat beside her. She didn't want to know what was in the folder. It could only be something bad.
“Mi-chan, do you have free time tomorrow?”
“Urm...I think I can spare my lunch hour. What's wrong?” asked Natsumi, looking at her mother.
“I want you to go and meet Tanaka-san. He is a nice guy, and I think he is suitable for you.”
“Omiai?! You want me to go for an omiai? I can't believe you!” Natsumi snapped at her mother's words. Arranged marriage was not something she wanted. Although it was just a meeting, the last thing she wanted was for her mother to butt in on her relationship matters.
“You are already 27. It is already past your marriage age. I want to see you with somebody.”
Natsumi sighed and took her mother's hand.
“I know what I am doing, mom. I will get married when the time comes. Now is just not the time, but I'll go and meet him tomorrow. If he is the one, I'll try and get to know him better. Is that okay? If it doesn't work out, I don't want you to interfere in my love life anymore. Is that okay?”
Her mother nodded and left the picture of the guy with her. Natsumi looked at the picture. Good looking, but there was someone in her life who looked much more cool and gorgeous than this guy. She smiled at her thought. Stop comparing all the guys that you meet with him, mumbled Natsumi. She lied down and hugged the red bunny with a smile.

The green room seemed normal with each Arashi member doing his own thing. Sho had his newspaper, Nino was absorbed in his DS, Jun was reading his novel, Aiba was flipping through a golf magazine, and Ohno was reading a fishing magazine. Sho gave the wall clock a glance. 0930. He started to wonder where Natsumi was. As soon as he opened his mouth to ask about their manager, he heard footsteps outside the green room door. Then Natsumi came in with her skirt. A smile appeared on Sho's face, but he quickly hid it by pretending not to look at his best friend and focusing on his newspaper. He could hear Natsumi clearing her throat.
“Well, I'm wearing a skirt today. Satisfied?” Natsumi asked Sho. She stood right in front of him. Sho took a peek from his paper and nodded.
“Natsumi-chan, you look kinda different today. Are you preparing yourself for some occasion?” Aiba asked curiously. Natsumi smiled at Aiba as she took a seat beside Jun. Sho just looked at her. There is an empty space beside me, why do you have to sit beside Matsujun? His heart rebelled. Of course, Natsumi couldn't hear that.
“My mom set up an omiai for me. So I thought maybe I'd put some effort into it. Do you think he'll like it?”
Sho was surprised to hear about the omiai and couldn't keep the shock from his face. An arranged marriage? It was all so sudden. He couldn't explain why, but he didn't want her to go. What was wrong with him?
“You look pretty. I am sure the guy will like you,” Jun praised her.
“Thank you, Jun-kun. I think it is a good thing I lost the bet yesterday. Don't you think so, Sho-chan?”
“Huh? I don't think so. I think you should show the guy the real you. Isn't that better? Show him the real Saeda Natsumi, not a hypocrite Saeda Natsumi who only wore a skirt after she lost a bet.”
Natsumi ignored Sho. She was busy flipping through her planner. Sho pouted when he realised he had been ignored. He looked at Natsumi. She looked elegant and ladylike with the skirt, a red blouse and a black jacket. A Natsumi that Sho had never seen before. How come he never realised that boyish Natsumi had turned into a lovely woman? Sho sighed when he remembered the fact that Natsumi might be snatched away by some anonymous guy.
“Next week we are going to Hokkaido. You guys have a shoot for your photo book there. So, look forward to next week! Although it will be a little sad at the end. I will leave you guys first,” Natsumi said and then she walked out of the green room.
“Did you guys hear what Natsumi-chan said before she left?” Ohno asked.
“You mean about Hokkaido? Of course all of us heard it,” replied Aiba.
“No. It was something about being sad at the end. Why would we be sad for the photo shoot?” Ohno asked with a puzzled look. Sho kept his ears open for the conversation.
“Maybe she was talking about herself. I heard the Hokkaido photo shoot is her last job. The manager will be back after that,” Nino told the others the news that he'd heard yesterday. He glanced at Sho who seemed surprised.
“Eh~?! I'm gonna miss Natsumi-chan after this. It is so much fun to have her as the manager. Can we keep her? Maybe as an assistant manager?” whined Aiba.
“Baka~! I'm sure the jimusho has arranged something else for her,” Jun said as he watched Sho's reaction. The newscaster seemed to be thinking deeply, but they could all see his tension. There was an aura surrounding Sho that told them that he was in a bad mood. Maybe it had something to do with Natsumi, thought the four of them. Sho's mood was a 360 degree change from the good mood that he had when he first entered the green room.
Sho was on edge for the rest of the day, and the other members knew how bad it could get when Sho was in a bad mood. Any single mistake could make him explode, so the others agreed it was best to just leave him alone.
********************************
Sho really had a rough day. He had a bad day during drama shooting, too. He'd had so many NG's the director scolded him. Now, he felt too tired. He walked into the Arashi green room. The other members were not there. Maybe they had gone back home, thought Sho as he opened the door. To his surprise, Natsumi was sitting on the sofa, flipping through a magazine.
“Thank you for the hard work. I heard that you had a rough day today,” said Natsumi. Sho just gave her a tired smile and sat down beside her.
“Mi-chan, can I sleep?” asked Sho.
“Okay...”
Before she managed to finish her sentence, Sho's head was already in her lap and his eyes were closed. Natsumi was startled. She didn't know what to do. She looked around to make sure that nobody was there before letting her eyes fall to Sho's face. Sho's sleeping face looked like a baby's. She caressed his hair. You really are tired, huh? whispered Natsumi.
Ohno and the other members walked towards their green room after having their tea at the cafe. Ohno opened the door, but he stopped and closed it again. He looked at Aiba, Nino and Jun.
“How about we go for karaoke?” said Ohno. The other three looked at him in confusion. Aiba tried to enter the room, but Ohno stopped him.
“I'll buy you fried chicken. Let's go to a karaoke bar,” insisted Ohno.
“Why don't you let us in? I know that you want to go to karaoke, but I need to get my stuff in there first. Then, we can go for karaoke and stay there till morning,” said Jun. Ohno didn't move from the door.
“Hey, is there something in there that made you stop us from coming in?” asked Nino. Ohno stood still.
“Nothing! What are you talking about? There's nothing to hide. Come on, let's go and have fun. You can come and get your stuff next time. Let's go. It's Riida's order!” said Ohno as he dragged the three men out of there. Against their will, Aiba, Jun and Nino followed Ohno.
“I'm sure there's something in there!” whined Nino. He tried to go back to the room, but Ohno pulled his hand and dragged Nino with him.
“Geez, what's wrong with you, Captain? Did you hit your head or something just now? Out of the blue you were so passionate about going for karaoke,” said Jun.
“Riida, you promised that you would buy me fried chicken just now! Better keep that promise,” said Aiba.
“Don't worry. Now, can we start moving? Stop thinking about the room. It'll still be there when we get back from karaoke,” said Ohno.
“Ah, why didn't we ask Sho-chan to come with us too?” asked Aiba. Before he could dial Sho's number, Nino took his cell phone away.
“Leave him alone. I'm sure he doesn't want someone to disturb him right now. He had a rough day, remember?” asked Nino. Aiba nodded. How could he forget that? Sho was in a terrible mood, and forcing him to go out wouldn't be fun for anyone.
“Nino, Aiba, let's go!” shouted Jun. The other two guys quickly hopped into the taxi where Ohno and Jun were waiting for them.
Back in the green room, Sho was still sleeping on Natsumi's lap. She kept on staring at his peaceful face with a smile. He looked like a little boy. She wanted to touch his cheek, but her hand stopped when Sho opened his eyes. Natsumi quickly hid her hand.
“Feeling better?” she asked as she cleared her throat. Sho smiled and nodded. He stood up and gathered up his things.
“I don't have any more work after this. Wanna go home together?” asked Sho. Natsumi nodded, and she took her bag with her. They walked together to Sho's car so he could drive her home.
“Mi-chan...” called Sho when they arrived at Natsumi's house.
“Hmmm?”
“You better stick with trousers! A skirt doesn't suit you!”
“Sakurai Sho! Idiot!” shouted Natsumi as Sho left her and drove to his house. She could hear his laugh, and Natsumi felt like throwing her sneaker at him.
********************************
Natsumi entered the room with her usual high spirited air. She was carrying a big paper bag.
“Natsumi-chan, what is that?” asked Ohno. She smiled as she put the bag on the table.
“Eh? You brought us food? Wow, this is great, Natsumi-chan,” said Aiba. He quickly took one of the containers.
“Woah~ fried chicken! Great!” said Aiba energetically.
“Do you have a hamburger?” asked Nino. Natsumi nodded. She took a yellow container and gave it to Nino.
“Wah, thank you Mi-chan!” said Nino, placing a small kiss on her cheek.
“Oi! What did you do just now? And I am the only one who can call her Mi-chan!” retorted Sho. Nino chuckled as he answered back.
“A thank you kiss for the hamburger, and everybody can call her Mi-chan. Are you jealous, Sho-chan?”
“Ba~ka! Why should I be jealous? Ridiculous!” replied Sho. Just that I felt like I wanted to push you away from her. Is that jealousy? he wondered.
“Here! This is yours. I put in an omelette because you like them. Finish all of them. You look skinny!” said Natsumi. Sho looked at her with his beautiful eyes.
“Am I too skinny? I think I look hot.”
“Huh? Hot? Yeah, it's hot in here, alright. Just gobble down the food, Mr. Skeleton,” said Natsumi. Jun came up beside her and whispered something in her ear. After that, both of them walked out of the room. Sho wanted to follow them, but Nino and Aiba stopped him.
“Where are you going? Didn't Mi-chan tell you to eat?” asked Aiba.
“But...”
“Sho-chan, you said that you are not jealous but you're acting like a jealous boyfriend. Hey, is there something going on with you and Natsumi-chan?” asked Nino. Sho ignored Nino's question and sat back in his seat, trying to act cool, but his mind was full with Natsumi and Jun.
*************************
Jun was talking with Natsumi on the rooftop. He gave her a hot coffee that he'd bought earlier at the vending machine.
“Natsumi-chan, I know the reason why you want to be our manager,” said Jun. He glanced at Natsumi who was smiling. She took a sip of the coffee.
“It's doesn't matter anymore,” sighed Natsumi.
“Why?”
“That idiot is too slow...”
“Does that mean you are going ahead with your parent's choice?” asked Jun. Natsumi chuckled as she sat on the bench.
“The main reason I went for the omiai was to reject him...”
“Does Sho-kun know about this?”
“He didn't ask me about it. I guess he didn't want to know. Maybe he already has someone else. Hey, Jun?”
“Hmm?”
“Keep this as a secret, okay?” asked Natsumi. Jun nodded his head and gave Natsumi an assuring smile. He patted her back.
“Why don't you just confess and tell him your true feelings?” suggested Jun. She shook her head.
“It's hard. I don't think I could accept the truth if he doesn't feel the same for me. Maybe we're better suited as friends,” said Natsumi. She left Jun after she thanked him for the coffee.
“Stupid couple!” whispered Jun. He walked back to the dressing room. As soon as he entered the room, he could feel that Sho kept staring at him. Nino came and sat beside Jun. He kept on playing his DS.
“How's it?” asked Nino.
“She was afraid, and she didn't have the courage to tell him,” explained Jun. Nino nodded.
“I guess we need to provoke the other person to make a move,” said Nino. He smiled cunningly while looking at Sho who was talking with Ohno.
“Jun-pon, don't you think Natsumi-chan will agree if I ask her out?” asked Nino. He gazed at Sho to see his bandmate's reaction.
“If you don't try, you won't get the answer. Just go and ask her,” replied Jun. Sho froze. “Eh?! Nino likes Natsumi-chan? Wah, I never thought this would happen!” said Aiba excitedly.
“Urm...you..urm..really like..Mi-chan? asked Sho. He seemed uncomfortable. Nino nodded.
“Don't you find her attractive? Now that I think about it, I guess I should learn about her from you. Would you like to teach me about Mi-chan?” Nino asked Sho, putting his hand around Sho's neck.
“Uh, okay...” said Sho, nodding hesitantly.
