When I get photos from marahsk I'll backdate a post about the previous weekend. Quick summary, Marah, mvt and I went down to Buffalo to see my neice perform with her (90-member) chorale group at Canisius College. We stopped at Anderson's on the way back; I got beef on weck. Then we went back to Toronto.

The cat was very happy to see me.

Sunday, slept in, went to Milestones for brunch, then went to see Spiderman 3. I liked it; I thought it was much better than most of the reviews I saw. After dinner we went to the Imperial Buffet in Mississauga. It's like Mandarin, but much better, and cheaper.

Sunday night, back to Buffalo. Got to the airport "late", i.e. 5:15 AM. There was a huge line at security, so I made to to the gate just before the plane started boarding. Got into Washington just after 7:30. Had breakfast, went to the eye doctor, got to work almost on time, within a few minutes.

The girls came in late Wednesday night. Thursday, we ran errands, per my other post. Friday we hit the grocery store, because I needed more shopping bags. I also had a haircut, and then helped the landlord's daughter with her laptop.

Saturday we didn't do a lot; IHOP for lunch, then we kind of vegged and watched television. Merle found a barbecue place called Willard's that was pretty good. We thought about seeing Next or The Invisible, but the reviews were just not positive. We watched Robin Hood in the evening, then Merle wanted to watch The Return of the King.

Sunday Merle wasn't feeling well, but she told us we should do something touristy (which we haven't done much since I've been down here). We found Clyde's of Reston for lunch on the way. We didn't get there in time to see a museum. Basically, we walked by the Washington Monument, through the World War II memorial, to the Lincoln memorial, then back past the Vietnam memorial. Marah got a few photos of that as well.

We had dinner with Marah's ex-boyfriend Corbin and his wife Andrea; they live in Alexandria. We went to Star Thai in Fairfax. Marah and Corbin caught up on various school friends.

Got back in time to watch Blood Ties. I'm like, cool, the guy from The Lost World. On the downside, they spent the episode pronouncing the "w" in "Swartalfen"; Henry should know better. Merle and Marah put up with my rant on linguistics (my only complaint about the show to date). Afterwards we went to Wegman's to get blue cheese for ann_totusek, since they have kinds she can't get in Iowa. Merle made a comment about me buying cheese for other women, but she can be charitable about people living in less advanced parts of the world. (Insert obligatory South Park allusion.)

Monday morning, they dropped me at work, and then at some point they headed back north. Monday evening, I tidied up and packed, which took a couple of hours.

Tuesday, I vegged, blogged. Looking forward to visiting the old country, as it were.
