Well, I should probably be doing something productive at the moment, but really, I can't be bothered right now.
I wrote a freaking poem!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, so it's long (over 500 words), but I tried to give it an epic quality. I'm pretty sure it doesn't suck, but I'm not sure how good it is, either. I've never been one to analyse poetry, because it's much too much like psychology. Trying to dissect who people are - and who they are always comes out in poetry - is almost disingenuous. However, I would really like to learn to appreciate others' work for what they saw in it, not what I think I see. Does that make sense? Probably not.
It has come. The time is finally here for me to fix my NaNo piece. To be honest, the prospect is quite daunting, but I know the story is good, and it's begging to be told. I think, once I get it up and running, it'll come out like word vomit, just like it did the first time, While the story itself is only about 1/3 to 1/2 finished, the hard part is past, so I can go on with the part that I don't have to work around canon events so much.
I'm feeling really good about writing at the moment. So much so that I will probably write my TTB drabble, maybe another drabble, my SBBC drabble, and possibly even that elusive Music poem. It shall be good, my muse is no longer being a dirty, uncooperative whore (yeah, bitch... you know what you did), and everything is quiet and lovely right now.
Love you, flist - especially if you got this far. :)
Here's the poem. It may be decent, and it may suck; I have no idea which. It's a James/Lily (*gasp*), and it hit me when I was flogging my muse for ideas. Then if just sort of came out. I think I even like it.
On a Path to Infinity
I watched her for so many years,
Her hair ablaze,
Her eyes intelligent,
Her soul aglow with vibrance.
I watched him watching me,
His hair untamed,
His eyes intense,
His soul becoming much more.
I could not stay away,
I wanted her,
I needed her,
We had to be more.
I could not ignore him,
I hated him,
I loved him,
There had to be more.
She sees me so much differently,
I think I love her,
I know I love her,
Will she give me a chance?
He seems so much different now,
I think I like him,
I think I love him,
Shall I give him a chance?
Lily, will you be my love?
I want to be yours,
I need to be yours,
Lily, will you marry me?
James, I do love you,
I want to be yours,
I need to be yours,
Yes, James, I will marry you.
Tidings of joy have met me this day,
I can’t describe,
I can’t articulate,
My heart bursts with anticipation.
Tidings of joy I shared this day,
I can’t describe,
I can’t articulate,
My heart bursts with anticipation.
The day is here, it’s finally here,
I am a lover,
I am a father,
Everything will change now.
The day is here, it’s finally here,
I am a lover,
I am a mother,
Everything will change now.
Lily, as you hold our son,
My heart skips,
My breath catches,
My beloved and Harry.
James, as you hold our son,
My heart skips,
My breath catches,
My beloved and Harry.
Our happiness, it couldn’t last,
Danger looms,
Danger stalks,
We must save our son.
Our happiness, it didn’t last,
Danger swells,
Danger waits,
We must hide our son.
‘Tis Hallowe’en, a normal night,
All is quiet,
All is still,
Surely, You-Know-Who won’t come.
‘Tis Hallowe’en, a cursed night,
All is silent,
All is eerie,
Hopefully, You-Know-Who won’t come.
The door burst open, and there he stood,
We are defenseless,
I am wandless,
“Lily, take Harry and go!”
James stood in defiance, but,
We are defenseless,
I am wandless,
I take Harry and go.
This is the end, for me, I know,
I stand up tall,
I stand up proud,
A flash of green brings the darkness.
He tells me to stand aside, but I won’t,
I plead for my son,
I love my son,
A flash of green brings the darkness.
Where is this place? I wonder,
But am I dead?
Surely, I’m dead,
Is eternity always so alone?
The darkness abated, I noticed,
But am I dead?
I have to be dead,
Is eternity always so still?
And that’s when I saw her appear,
Lily, my love,
Forever, my love,
We have ‘til time ends to be.
And that’s when I found him,
James, my love,
Forever, my love,
We have ‘til time ends to be.
We watch as our son is rescued,
He is alive,
He will survive,
To fulfill his destiny of greatness.
But our time is spent,
We are together,
Never parted,
Two souls on a path to infinity.
