Born to be a Hammer: Author's Notes
I don't think there are any spoilers here, per say, but these notes do directly reference the text. So, uh, if you haven't read that then these might not make much sense.
- This is not only my first Star Trek fic, but my first real fic of any length. So, uh, be kind? Comments and critique are love.
-The lyrics at the beginning of the story have been translated from Spanish to English. I used this translation. I also don't speak a lick of Spanish.
- If you think something sounds familiar, it probably does. I've shoehorned in lots of little references to songs/movies/books I enjoy, but I tried not to be too obvious about it.
- Character ages have been manipulated. Pike is now older than George and Winona Kirk, Gretchen Lui, and James Komack.
- I’ve taken a few (a lot of) liberties with Romulan technology and culture. Also, it’s only mentioned in a one-off line, but in my head canon Romulans believe that the liver is the source of feelings/emotions instead of the heart. (The Roman physician Galen located the seat of the passions in the liver instead of the heart.)
- Uhura mentions being on Tarsus IV. She wasn't there during the Kodos era but was sent there more recently in the planet's history, after the failure of the second colonization effort. Jim wasn't there for either tragedy in this particular AU.
- I reference warp cores a couple of times, but forgot that there were different types of warp cores across the series. To cliarfy, I was specifically thinking of this model.
