I was searching for my birthfamily's records via my grandfather.
Turns out he died September 12th and no one told me. I had to find out through Ancestry.com, not 10 mins ago!
I guess both my bio and adopted families "cut the cord" with me, due to my moving to Texas last year.
I'm completely stunned. They didn't even mention me in the obit.
True, since I was adopted out, they may have been in too much grief to think of me, but, it still hurts!
He didn't remember me the last two times I saw him, but, the last time I saw him and he knew who I was he said "You're my grandson, John, and I'm proud of you."
I went to a friend's family for Xmas, and while they were opening presents I was sitting in the kitchen on the Internet. It's not their fault, obviously, but, I felt kinda ostrasized This all just drives home what the author Thomas Wolfe said "You can't go home again."
