Different shades of green

Now that I post my impressions, I can go and read smart people all over the world.

You know, may be the cancellation of Angel wasn’t such a great idea, after all?

::whistles innocently and tries to escape rotten vegetables thrown at her::

How many shows we have in, like, ever that make us laugh and cry in a single episode? Laugh, and cry, and freak out, and throw things at screen, and hug it after? And… And…

But those are emotions, let’s try a deeper well for some thoughts.

Story-wise, something bad had to happen to Fred. Character-wise? I don’t know. The case is still open, and we will have to see, how much of Fred is left in blue-haired something. Is she a blue fairy now? The one who makes real boys?

They wouldn’t go the evil-Cordy route now, would they? That would be boring, not to mention wrong. Although “wrong” never stopped ME from doing exactly that - if it serves their story. I am curious how it will develop in the 8 episodes that left.

About Knox: how surprised should we have been that he is behind “the evil stuff that happened to Fred”? Wouldn’t it be more interesting if he wasn’t? Not that I was invested in him, but still. On the other hand, it provides a good counter-point to Gunn. And let me stop with the thoughts for a while and enjoy Gunn singing again…. Mmm…

Even if I didn’t know that “Something Bad Is Going to Happen to Fred” - no matter how unspoiled I tried to be - the beginning of episode with Fred’s parents, and the bunny, and sweetness would give it away. So, I was sitting and waiting for the Bad Things. And in the meanwhile I got more sweetness and fun. Not that I complain. How unnatural is that that sweetness and fun scares me more than blood and heartbreak? I think I am Wednesday Addams.

The argument about cavemen vs. astronauts, I love you. Especially the fact that soon all W&H was discussing it. Another thing about cavemen vs. astronauts - how it grows from the silly argument into the meat of the story. Fred - she is both - she literally was a caveman (cavewoman) in Pylea, she was an astronaut, and this time cavemen win. What is going to happen next?

The hole in the world - is it the hole in Angel, the one Fred was looking into in the “Soul Purpose”? Was Alice falling down through such a hole - or thinking that she could end up in Australia?

Loved the scaring Lorne, loved the scared Eve. I was ambivalent about Eve all season, but in this episode - I liked her. Really.

And for some more actual thoughts I would have to watch again. Because I am still thinking about a deeper well, meaning of Fred, and a hole in the world.
