Wow

It's been a busy few days.

Last week I was pretty sick Mon-Wed and ended up working from home and sleeping a lot.

Thursday I did an Orphan's Thanksgiving with some hashing friends: very low-key and very nice. The food was great, especially the killer green-bean, pomegranite seed, and goat cheese side. I am also completely in envy of Swamp and Psycho's wine cellar. Oof!

After dinner Thursday night I picked up garletoe at the airport. Thursday night was ... interesting to say the least. Friday morning we drove out to Havertown, PA (Philly suburbs) and spent two nights at my parents house. Dinner was a lot of fun, with some family friends and my sister in attendance: lots of good food, conversation, and drink. I have to find out what white wine blend Mom served second, as it was totally delish. The evening was capped off by some wonderful yumminess and a chance to catch up with sis before she headed back to NYC which I was really grateful for the chance to do.

Saturday afternoon we went down into the city to see Patty Red Pants: it fucking rocked! (Thanks for the recommendation ms_violet!). Afterwards we walked around historic Philly, and then did some browsing on South Street, grabbing a couple of drinks at O'Neal's (which was a better experience than I would have guessed after first walking in) before heading back to Havertown for dinner with the folks.

Sunday we headed back to Pittsburgh, running out of gas on the way ("Oh baby, we ran out of gas. Whatever will we do while we wait for AAA to get here?"), followed by a "just right" dinner in Squirrel Hill, shopping, then home. Monday was spent mostly lounging around, followed by a great dinner with denovich and fuzzycoffeebean at Casa Denovich. I love hanging out with Mark and Deb, and it was fun to snuggle in front of the fire, drinking wine and eating steaks. Deb, you have to see my new living room so we can start talking about paint colors. And, let's set a date for me to cook you guys dinner soon...

That's the skeleton of the weekend. I could go on and on about random details, smiles, and moments, but I really don't have the time. Suffice to say that I thought it was pretty amazing and that things feel like they might be returning to some sort of normalcy (whatever that means). I'm certainly intrigued by the future, but in a more bemused, curious way than anything. Again, yeah, I could go on, but there's too much to say.

Last night I dropped garletoe off at the airport then rocketed downtown to meet up with my old hashing buddy Steamer. I haven't seen Steamer in over two years and it's been way too long, especially now that we only live 4 hours from each other. We grabbed a few beers then trekked off to spend an evening with Phil Lesh and Friends, Searching for the Sound. Perhaps I'll write more on that later, but by the second set I was on my feet and dancing and loving it. Good 'ol Phil.
