Life is extremely hectic daan here in Picksburgh.
Good, but hectic.
Monday I returned home from a weekend traveling New England with
morleyroarly. It was quite the adventure, with me meeting her family for the first time and getting to see some old friends at Michael&Suzanne's wedding.
Thursday:
-fly into Portland, ME, drive immediately to Cambridge, MA (arr. 1 am)
-attempt to not wake up brother and sister-in-law with sounds of torrid sex
Friday:
-wake
-brunch with Seth&Dre (MoJo's bro and sis-in-law)
-learning about student loan scams
-yummy snuggles
-buying ties from old italians and learning I need not even attempt to match my beautiful date's dress
-CAPE TRAFFIC. ARGH!
-Reception for Michael&Suzanne's wedding
-"Sweet Caroline...BA BA BAM..."
-late night drives to Providence and meeting E
-WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONSocket!
-return to Cambridge, MA, arrive 1 am
-more yummy, amazing, after-dark olympics
Saturday:
-wake and grump
-drive to Portland, ME via Gray, ME due to annoying change in route numbers since 2001
-remember what the 80s were like regarding store hours
-masshole Maine-weekender Traffic
-seeing both Bates & Bowdoin
-driving past poorly scaled fish-ladders
-meeting MoJo's parents
-seeing Middle Bay, trying to get the mini-Cat to work
-swimming in the pool, playing keep away, failing at chicken fights (slope too steep)
-dinner! being grilled (in a nice way), all kinds of crazy big talk about the future
-fudge sundae on a warm maine evening, dusk, trains coming by, boys in skirts, and shifts in perspective
-somehow winning over Jane to let us sleep in the same room
-somehow managing to not wake anyone up (yes, I'll provide a testimonial for that air mattress)
Sunday:
-brunch
-kayaking with Dr. DeWitt and interesting conversations about Energy+Environment
-learning how to dive into a pool
-meeting GiGi (pronounced Gee Gee), talks of gardens, driving, and houses
-Frozen Custard!
It was a wonderful weekend of wide eyes, soft caresses and relationship building conversations/situations (read: traffic :), all interspersed with some chill time just walking around Cambridge, lounging in the pool, or driving around the back roads of new england. I was sad to leave, but comforted by the knowledge that I'll see
morleyroarly in a scant two weeks!
Now that I'm back though, I'm feeling the weight of everything that needs to happen prior to
Burning Man. Mainly work and shoehorning a 1.6L turbo diesel into a 1971 vw bus, not to mention learning songs for a gig I'm doing with my sister, learning some tunes for ROADHOUSE, and, well, trying to sleep. Oh, and I haven't run more than the hash once a week, which is irking me on some level, but I haven't the time to get it done.
In other news, Lily is running well but it looks like all new projects are on hold after tomorrow when I pick up a new-to-me 1989 Accura from
denovich's Mom. This - having Lily not be my daily driver - will enable me to focus on the '71 and see if I can get it on the road in the next ~3 weeks.
So, back to work for me! Hope you're all well.
