An update
Hi everybody! I feel like it's been forever...
Teaching at Commack was incredible! It was one of the most rewarding experiences that I have ever had. I conducted the 11th and 12th grade band, band lessons, and a class called "Music in Our Lives." I also got to conduct the 11th and 12th grade band's concert in May. It went extremely well. I was so proud of them! I have learned that every moment is a learning experience. I will always treasure everything that both my students and colleagues taught me. It was a really unique situation because these students had me as their student teacher in September and October and then they wrapped up the school year with me as their teacher. I was able to see them mature and they were also able to see me grow.
Right now I'm looking for a position for next year. I have been on a handful of interviews and gotten very close, but nothing has turned up yet. All there is to do now is to remain patient and positive. I am very proud of the cover letters and resumes that I have sent out.
So, my plans right now are subbing in Commack and Northport, as well as going to grad school at Stony Brook part-time. I also have a handful of private students that are going to continue with me through the school year.
