Because of you, I'm not getting any work done and I'm on the verge of tears. I just love these types of stories, all angsty and stuff, and then the final wrap up of happiness in the end.

This story reminds me of the emails my "friends" always send me that start out all happy and then have a sad, meaningful ending. Your story had a meaningful ending too: cherish what you have and don't be swayed by the pretty, shiny things swinging in front of you.

I'm forwarding this to my daughter. She loves these kinds of stories too. Thanks so much for sharing :D

Oh thanks! to be honest I was kind of worried about this piece... I love angst, but this was so far off my usual style I didn't know if I'd pull it off. I'm glad you liked it, and that you found it meaningful (that you're sharing it with your duaghter just blows my mind!)

Since you mentioned it, I went ahead and watched Warui Yume on YouTube. Drat them for using that "If you're not the one" song for part 3. It always makes me cry. And it fits your story, too. Great homage--KakaIru style. ;) Thanks for making the ending believable. Ack. I have to go find more kleenix now.

Man, you sure have a way with words.
You see, although I have nothing against KakaxIru, and I enjoy some of the more juicier doujinshi :P, it is certainly not one of my fav Naruto yaoi pairings... not even in my Top 10. But I read it once in a while... and maaaaaaan am I glad I decided to read this one or what?
I'm suppressing tears and a goofy wobbly smile right now. That's how good it is.
Damn, if I am not a sucker for angst with happy endings XD

Gawd, that was so sad. Ugh. It made me feel SO TERRIBLE. But at the end I felt hopeful. Not warm and fuzzy like I'd hoped, but I feel that's how it should be.
