Emily is now married. We simply take the forms to the Ramsey county office tomorrow and it's more than official. She will now be Emily Barten. We signed the documents downstairs a minute before the ceremony, then went upstairs. It sprinkled, but the wedding was indoors.
Daniel lost it during the ceremony. The moment she started down the aisle, he cried.
I held it together. Barely, at the end. Still. I got to say, "By the power vested in me by the State of Minnesota, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss."
Emily is now Emily and Daniel.
This may be the most important role I'll ever have in a wedding. If I'm lucky, I'll get married someday, but luck is... Well. As much as I love my brothers, I doubt I'll make it to Best Man for either. So this was it, perhaps. And what a thing. What a thing.
Holy shit. Emily is married.

OKCupid helped with this one. It's funny to backtrace these things.
If Emily hadn't moved to Minnesota to be with Andrew, that douche, they wouldn't be together.
If I hadn't suggested she use OKCupid, they wouldn't be together.
If Ryan H hadn't met his boyfriend on OKCupid they wouldn't be together.
If Emily hadn't gotten a decent job out here, they wouldn't be together.
If
If
If
If
And so on.
Things that seem inevitable always seem to follow such random, delicate lines. Luck. Chance. Statistically unlikely. Well, hell, so's everything else.

Emily's brother Ben brought his boyfriend, Dustin. A wonderfully cute couple. Teeth-gritting, achingly cute. Enviable. Affectionate. Something to aspire to, something to want. We believe they'll last. They should.
