Why is it that my parents tend to make me so neurotic?
I spent hours yesterday cleaning the house to perfection....and why?....because my parents were dropping the kids off from school. And I'm not talking about just straitening up either, but full on spotless. Why do I care so much? When they lived in MN I only went through the 'parents are coming' panic attack once or twice a year at most. Is it just a women thing or a me thing? They were only here for a few minutes, so why do I tie my self-esteem to what they think about my house? Is it because I don't have a job, and therefore no technical excuse I can give for a messy house? Grrrr. And their house is always messy and I could care less. They probably could care less too, so why all the stress? Do you go through this when they come to visit you Marty?
My new friends get the disclaimer. I clean the house before they come over the first time, and when they get there I tell them to take a good long look around because it will never look like that ever again....unless my parents are coming over. LOL.
