The Ones That Hurt

People die every day. That includes famous people. I've noticed the rhythm getting a little faster, a little steadier as I get older myself and the famous people who die are less often just names I know and more often those whose work I know. I hear you. So many things are coming out about Williams, showing just how much of a genuinely nice person he was, that I never knew when he was alive. Like you said, sneaking in to try and cheer up Reeve. Someone has come out to state that Williams had a rider for his live appearances demanding that the venue hire homeless people for support staff at his performances (both to do something tangible for that population and to boost awareness). I've seen a picture of him taking part in a sporting event for the disabled (not sure if it was Special Olympics). Him trying to support Nathan Lane on their publicity tour for "The Birdcage" because while Lane was known to be gay within the theater world, the general movie-going public didn't know and assumed he was straight, leading to a few awkward questions. Just how much work he was doing to entertain troops overseas. It makes me a bit sadder that these things weren't more well-known besides Williams having a reputation for being a nice guy, that it took his death to bring them out into conversation.

On the other hand, learning that he'd been diagnosed with Parkinson's makes things a little clearer. My grandpa had Parkinson's, and even with no mental health issues and a ton of family support, it was a very hard decade before his death.
