I found out this week via the
BPAL forum that a Whole Foods store in Roswell, Georgia, has begun carrying about a dozen different BPAL perfumes from the permanent catalog. A BPAL fan who works there went through the fairly long and arduous process of getting
BPAL on the approved vendors list for the stores in the Southern region.
The fact that BPAL now has a toehold in a major national corporation is just so unbelievably cool. I've been envying folks who live in Ohio because if they live near a Bigg's they can walk in and buy
Possets off the shelf.
I have spent the last hour composing a letter and then faxing it to the five Whole Foods locations in NC, pleading with them to stock BPAL. I had Mr. Bead read over my first attempt, and he said it was "too professional", that I needed to loosen up the language, sound less like a marketing rep and more like a rabid customer. Who knew there was a downside to being erudite?

In other news, Little Bead has hit almost 45 tubs of cookie dough and will probably pass that tomorrow. Great-Grandma came through with a second wave of orders. Grandma asked at her office. And on an impulse I sent a timid email around to my co-workers. When I went to the teachers' lounge to get lunch, there was a check for over $100 in my box and a list of 8 tubs! Seems the school secretary looks for these fundraisers because she loves giving tubs to new neighbors and as birthday presents to kids in her family. And the principal plans to get some as well. I figure Little Bead will be the top seller in his class at this rate.
I am greatly looking forward to next week. Mr. Bead will be out of town at a conference, which gives me two nights to play lots of City of Heroes, concentrate on getting the eBay stuff started, and try and finish a draft of my story for
a_pumpkin_xmas. I have a good feel for what I want to do, but I need to actually sit down and write it.
