Commuting and more.

I cannot see the word "fuego" without responding in kind. I will probably be randomly yelling "fuego!" all day long. Whoo!

After doing the math, I've found that the most affordable commute for me now that I live in the north suburbs (SIGH) is as follows:

--walk to Morton Grove Metra (four blocks).
--catch either the 7:50 or 8:08 train from MG Metra.
--walk from Union Station downtown on Adams to Red Line at Monroe (six blocks).
--catch Red Line train at Monroe.
--exit Red Line at Chicago.

Ding! I have arrived at work!

This is also the healthiest option, as I would be walking nearly three miles a day twice a week. I would still drive down on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as I work until 8:00 PM those nights, and there's next to no traffic driving down in the late morning. But I definitely save money in the long run doing it this way. I just have to see what time I get here if I catch the 7:50 AM train as opposed to the 8:08 AM one. 8:08 gets me here a little later than I'd like to be.

Taking the Metra is usually an enjoyable experience for me. The seats are comfier, and the stops are fewer and far between, leaving more time and room for reading, sleeping, whatever. I remember taking the Metra downtown with my mother when she worked there and I went to school at DePaul, and it was generally great. I got a lot of homework and reading done on the Rock Island between 99th and LaSalle Street station, to be sure. I can't sleep on the way home, though, until I get used to the time frame. I used to be able to sleep like a rock on the Rock Island and still wake up as the train left 95th street, giving me enough time to gather and go for 99th street. We'll see if I can manage it on the Milwaukee District North line. If I sleep past a stop, well...take it to North Glenview and Lowell can pick me up! :D Or something.

Productivity at work yesterday was at an all time high. Productivity at home, however, not so much. Lowell and I opted for Big Bowl dinner last night, but there is not one close to us. It made the most sense for me to take the metra out to Deerfield road, where he would pick me up, and we'd go to the one in Lincolnshire. There were delays on the metra, however, and dinner got delayed by almost an hour. Boo! By the time we got home and got the basic domestic stuff done (garbage out, as pickup is today, laundries, etc), we had opted for laziness. Lowell played around with his new Wii and PS3 connectability, and I paged through the entire Gather hymnal looking at all the descants, harmonies, and written in parts I used to sing. Ah, nostalgia.

Tomorrow is CT scan and MRI for Hans, and a few other things as well, though naturally my mother has told me next to nothing. Will have to ring her later. He will defeat them all with his hunting and fishing paraphanalia as well as his mighty beard. Go Hans, whoo!

Must get back to productivity. Having the checklist helped, I think. Time to make another, though on paper today. Trying to keep eyes off of the computer a bit today, seeing as I still have a headache. Boo!
