Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child excel at catching me. I'll start one of their books, be able to put it down periodically through the first half, and find that everything's fine. Don't have a lot of time to have kids?! You're crazy! You're only 24! Don't scare me into thinking I'M running out of time!

And Ricardo might just think you're busier than you are. When he did that I'd just say, "I've caught up on some stuff. Is there anything that needs to be done?" If he says no... hey... more puttering around time! :)

The Wheel of Darkness could be seen as a stand-alone. You're right there, but it didn't seem to me to put the "Diogenes cycle" completely to rest. It was nice to see him, albeit briefly and in a dream(?), and I liked the ending.

I'll be re-reading it again in a week or three, just to go over again and see if I was right about a few things, things about which I've not yet posted.
