very tired...

Just one of those go go weekends.

One of the High Points:

We were given tickets to see a show at North Shore Music Theatre, an Adaptation of Judith Viorst's "Alexander and the Horrible, Very Bad, No Good Day." Sarah was entranced for the entire hour. She sat on Ernie's lap next to her cousins and had a wonderful time.

Lunch after the play was not so good. I called the local Friendly's to say that we were arriving with a party of 10. They said fine, no problem. The restaurant is laid out in an L. The top of the L is a side area that can have tables that can be easily pushed together. We got there and the party of 6 that was in line in front of us got seated in the area and we got told, well you can have two back to back booths. This restaurant has extended booths that can comfortably seat 6. They knew we were coming, because we called. So we were told our options were to take the booths OR wait an hour for the other party to clear away. We have 4 children with us ranging from 5 to 2. They want to sit next to each other. We can't put them in a booth without adults and they will not be able to sit together. My Sister in Law decides she wants to speak to a manager. The manager says, sorry. My sister in law countered with . "I guess you don't want our business." (This was easily a 150.00 tab) Manager, "I do want your business." (and then the manager stands there.)

We left. And went to the 99 around the corner, where I called and got our table for 10 no problem. The meal was - meh -. Somehow the bill was 42.00 a family.

Ernie and I suggested that we go to a nice non chain family restaurant that has really good food, but we got shot down because there was no special kids menu. We had to go somewhere where the kids got a "Special" meal with free dessert. In Ernie's words, "We over paid for a sub par meal so the kids could have a hoodsie cup."

Part of me likes and part of me doesn't like a kids menu. It's only been recently that we've even resorted to a kids meal. Most of the time, we'd order an Entree that we know she would like, and shared with her. At the 99 - there was no option for a vegetable. All four kids had macaroni and cheese, with a drink and a sundae with no sauce. (One cousin doesn't get hot fudge sauce, so none of them did.) And the cost was 5.00 +

The best place for a cheap family dinner, in our area is The Border Cafe. Not bad mexican, with a 2.95 kids meal. Sarah likes it. We get a meal with vegetables, flavor and we're fed for under 30.00.

Or we go to Brothers or the Chinese place - Sarah has her Rice and Tea and we get a better meal.
