Exactly one month to Botcon, and I've (finally) got my schedule for all of the next two months set. I managed to work out one that gave me all the days off I'd need between my sister's wedding and the 'con without actually losing any hours and without asking the guy who works opposite of me to do too many days in a row, and both he and my boss agreed to it. I'm sure giving him the Fourth and the four days following it off didn't hurt. Of course, that'll require me to work a nine-day stretch right after Botcon, but it was either that or stretch out the 'make-up' days out to August. Now all I need to do is find out what exactly is going on with the room Charge grabbed, and maybe figure out where I'm gonna scrape up spending money, and I'll be all set.
On a sadder note, my paternal Grandmother, the only remaining one, isn't doing too good. She was recently hospitalized for an obstucted bowel, which required the removal of a chunk of her small intestine, but at 80-something she doesn't have the stamina for a protracted recovery anymore. She's ready to go, and is currently refusing any further treatment. So we're pretty much waiting to see if she'll pull through on her own or not. Kind of a depressing thing to go through a bit more than a week before the wedding and attendant big family get-together, but it's not like you can time these things. I suppose it's a good thing Dad wasn't going to be able to make it out here, since he'll have more than enough on his hands with this.
Hm. Once she's gone, the only grandparent I'll have left will be Grandpa Archer. I've never been particularly close with my grandparents, what with them living 3000 miles away for most of my life and all, but it's still depressing to see them go.
