For those of you that know me...you will laugh! For those of you that don't know me but are getting there, well this is an insight into where I live. And for those of you who are randomly reading this...well just laugh at it anyway!
So I started training for a triathlon in earnest now and yesterday was a hill day on my bike. Today (since its raining as it should be in Oregon in April I will go and swim) I finally took my bike out of the car and hung it back up in the garage and drove off to work. As I did this I knew in the back of my head that I was forgetting something. Just couldn't pin point what. But since I work only 15 min away it wasn't such a big deal. As I got to work I pull out my security badge and say hi to the gal at the little guard house. She checks me through but says "There is a cop on your tail, you may want to pull over and see what he wants!"
All I can think at this point is shit shit shit...so I pull over and the cop (mind you no lights or anything went off) comes over and says to me "Looks like a new car!"
Here I am sitting in the parking lot of HP and the cop is asking me about my car? What do I say "Yes it is, just got it a month ago"! To which he replies "Well congrats on that, didn't mean to pull you over but I was checking it out. I think I am going to get one for my daughter!" Wow now this is a first for me, getting pulled over because my car is "cool!" Just as he was walking back to his squad car he takes another look, at which point I think I am free here, and starts walking back. Now he has his serious face on, and I think again "shit shit shit".
"Sorry but I need to see your driver's license and registration!"
"Ummm, ok!" I go for my wallet and no driver's license. So I pull the brand new registration cards, and start freaking because I don't have my license! Instead I give him my old UW Student ID which I carry for some reason, and he says
"Well you aren't braking any laws but your license plate stickers are covered up back there and I got a bit worried. I saw you were a Husky (I got a license place cover from UW as a grad gift) so I just wanted to raz you a bit and let you know you really should take that off. WELCOME TO BEAVER LAND!" He made another comment about driving without my license to which I replied...I think I left it at home...and then he left.
Ok, so for those of you that know me you will know why this is so funny. Yes I went to UW but I grew up in Corvallis and am a true Beaver on the inside. The other funny thing is that this could seriously only happen in this town. Where else do you get pulled over due to the fact that the police man wants to take a better look at your car. Last but not least I ALWAYS loose my key's, wallet, and things like my driver's license.
As for my drivers license....it was in the saddle bag of my bike! Oooops!
