Annoyingly colorized and of uncertain provenance*, this is still a spectacular footage of Shanghai c. August 1938. It lets you experience the awesome grandeur of the Bund, the giant traffic curve of Avenue Edward VII, the left-side driving on Nanking Road (drive slowly not to hit those random pedestrians!), the tremendous bustle of the downtown streets, with their trams, rickshaws and double-decker buses, and the intense river port traffic.
