This series of photographs on PastVu come from the family archive of Ariadna Pakhomova, who came to Shanghai in 1923, aged 18, to work as a cryptographer at the USSR Consulate. The pictures are taken in the building on Whangpoo Road, formerly the Imperial Consulate of Russia, which was handed over to the Soviet diplomats in July 1924.
