This 1941 photo of the opening of a charity soup kitchen (雷米路粥厂所) in the French Concession is taken at Route Gaston Kahn, near Route Remi. The street is quite recognizable even 80 years later - thankfully - although one would be hard-pressed to find free rice in this part of town now.
