Shanghai Hong List (1939) is up
If anyone wants to consult the Hong List for the year 1939, there is the January edition (all of China, not just Shanghai) in open access at SOAS. And it is searchable!

The beauty of the 1939 edition is that it matches the map called 1939 Foreign Settlements Commercial Guide, on Virtual Shanghai, doubling the researcher's chance of getting somewhere useful.
