A residence on West Nanjing Road

This interesting stash of documents and photographs from 1948 pertains to the ownership of the residence at 1917 West Nanjing Road.

How does one get access to such interesting archival evidence? If you're a property owner or a real estate agent, you can tap into the Shanghai Urban Construction Archive, which holds all these goodies; otherwise - alas!

There is something else about this house. This residence in a distinct "Spanish style" was designed by the Russian architect N. N. Emanoff for the Associated Architects and built in 1941. It still stands at 1917 West Nanjing Road 南京西路1917号:
