For the rest of you, a birthday ficlet, Plan B.
Characters: Tackey and Tsubasa
Pairing: TakiTsuba
Genre: Fluff and romance
Rating: PG
Summary: When Plan B feels more real and right now.
Plan B
Takki stirs from his sleep for the umpteenth time. He has yet again forgotten to switch his phone to vibration mode.
The text message reads, 'Takki-san, congratulations! You're a year younger!! Happy birthday!!!'
'You silly boy, it's past midnight already. You're either too late or too early,' Takki chuckles.
Briefly visualising tardy juniors being punished on Taki-CHANnel, the newly minted 29 year-old Takki soon returns to less sadistic musings - life in his ideal 30s. It's summer and he's barbequing in a backyard right out of a Homes and Gardens magazine. Screaming kids are clambering all over him and a faultless wife is on standby to serve him coffee just the way he likes. Life is tooth-achingly sweet and he is a happy man.
'What the...'
Once again, Takki is rudely awaken. This time it's not belated birthday messages.
'Tsubasa, I'm not your bolster,' the pinned down man chides, wriggling to free himself from under the sleeping log.
His oblivious partner is obviously exhausted from the day's preparation of his birthday feast. There were only two of them, eating a portion for 20. And there was the unplanned after-dinner entertainment to thank too.
Takki stops his struggles and gives Tsubasa a good eyeful. Unlike his picture-perfect future, his present is not sugar and spice and all things nice. But it feels real. And it's not all bad - at least it cooks, cleans and doesn't snore.
Gradually, to the soft rhythm of their synchronized heartbeats, the faraway future dims and fades away, and Takki slips into a different dream - of a warmth that is right here and right now.
End
Note: So many plans yet so little time. T&T fic, Eternal will have to wait till next week or at least sometime in your lifetime. Also, I've recently watched the classical ballet of Romeo and Juliet and thought I could do a modern T&T version, Romeo and Julien. In the meantime, if you've been amused, you might wanna check out another ballet-inspired T&T ficlet,
Duck Lake.
