It is autumn in New York, gold, crimson, sea breezes that blow right through my warm coat. When I go back to Raleigh for Thanksgiving, I will get my extra-warm coat, the black and white one I bought from the crazy lady on Tate Street who I understand has closed up shop since I left town.

I believe I understand what you're saying firsthand after more or less travelling for two years (with a one year stop in Rotterdam and a two month stop in Calgary). Now, living with my parents for a few months doing data entry work before I move to Brazil to work on a new Internet TV station, is quite an interesting experience.
Although my suitcase did not become the constant of my life (as I had broken two suitcases before I decided to "Go European" and get a large sturdy backpack), I ended up attaching more emotions to my passport than any other object I own. It will be nice to eventually settle down a year or so from now, and hopefully in NYC...
Oh yeah, please wish a "Van harte gefeliciteerd met je verjaardag!" to Aliyah for me! I wanted to tell her, but I haven't seen her online lately and I don't have her email... And yes, that is Dutch for "Happy birthday!" Don't ya love how the Dutch love to take so long to say the simplest things? ;) [Of course, you could just say "Gefeliciteerd", but that would be too easy now, wouldn't it?]
