i came across this very interesting japanese article, about the "minimalist" lifestyle boom currently sweeping across the country, and some of the points brought up by the interviewees really stuck in my head. like the example of how this lady who once had more than 200 items of clothing, now only owns 18. she figured out the style that suited her most, and carefully chose items that revolve around that style, which also meant everything could go with everything. and because every item is carefully thought over, she feels exceptionally confident when she wears them. also, she sticks to a rule of discarding something for every new item added. this is really something very inspiring for me, even though i doubt i will have her level of self-control.
"minimalism is not about the art or skill of tidying, it's a method to search for one's true self. the act of reducing material items, is the journey to finding the things that truly matter to you."
i wanna try to strive towards a more minimalist lifestyle. maybe then i will stop feeling so frustrated with the clutter around me.
