it's unusual for it not to ring all day...not even a wrong number
our phone hasn't rang all DAY!
...it wasn't plugged in.
that wasn't quite true for me/
my plastic box jittered eagerly/
spouting a lukewarm glow and doling-out pixels/
the three time charm, the nonchalantly-screaming busy signal/
before the ring/
and the nomadic answering machine/
skipped message/
clear archive-but can't get clean/
of the grit/
from the flaking leather/
hand of history/
at some point one must anoint their mitts/
and cease the blistering of the shadow/
whipping the hand on the dial/
the format seems fine but some want to format the file/
either as a cycle/
destruction and renewal/
or of a bending, molding, into a flat sheet of similar/
size and shape but different density and color/
half-way through the process that you didn't know was automated/
wonder if you should have hit the executable self-installer/
or should have waited/
