First of all, it's great to know you like x-men, too! I have been eager to watch the movie all along, but naturally it came out a day after I left for vacation and although they did show the movie in Paris, I don't understand the language and I certainly don't like it enough to sit through a movie I really want to see without understanding what they say (if it was Spanish I wouldn't have minded). Have you seen the movie yet and if yes, how do you like it? I'm considering to go tonight, but I'm not sure if I should, because I spent far too much money in Paris already. :(

Either way, back to the topic. While I think that his skills are incredibly impressive and interesting and I sure wouldn't mind having those, too, I think it's a little sad that you feel the need to mold into society. Please don't get me wrong, this is not meant as criticism! Judging by what I know about you I can completely understand your wish. It's hard being lonely and having a hard time to get along with people because of who you are. I have a hard time myself every now and then. I just wish that you wouldn't have to feel this way and that people would be more open for things that differ others from them and act more tolerant. If you've seen x2 you may remember the scene where Nightcrawler asks Mystique why she doesn't say shapeshifted all the time and she says she doesn't because it shouldn't be necessery. She is right, we shouldn't have to feel bad about who we are (as long as we aren't harming ourselves and others).
The story of the x-men is our daily life - in an abstract way. There are umteenth groups of people being bullied because people are alienated by them. Of course, we've already come a far way by now, women aren't as suppressed anymore, it's a little easier for other races to compete, we've slowly overcoming homophobia. But those aims aren't even reached yet and we have such a long way ahead of us, still. I wish that some day this will all be easier. For you, me and everyone else.

PS: I'm always split about which ability I'd like to have. It varies a lot. I really fancy Mystique's mutation, sometimes Pyro's or those of The Human Torch (I often think about going up in flames, especially when I'm worked up and angry). Of course flying would be a great ability, too. Something I wouldn't really want is the ability to read thoughts. Foremostly because I wouldn't want others to read mine, for another, sometimes it's better not to know certain things. We think a lot of thoughts that are outragious, vile, embarrassing and wrong, but it's a way to cope and doesn't have to mean anything and wouldn't it be terrible to mess things up because of that?
