I'll be attending summer school for the time of my college career. CSUFullerton's summer schedule is really wierd, with A, B, C, D, and E schedules. A is the first 5 weeks, B is another 5 weeks. C is somewhere in the middle and I have no clue where D and E are located. By attending summer school, I'll be finished with my English minor come August. And I'll make a small dent into the classes that I need for my newly declared marketing major.
What made me choose marketing? I'm great at brainstorming and coming up with ideas. As cliche as it sounds, I tend to think outside the box, but realize that there needs to be a connection with the known. The English classes I have taken aren't being wasted, I'm very happy that English has transformed into a minor. I've dedicated myself towards that for the past 3 years and I've learned too much about random authors.
But I need a major that offers more. I'd like a somewhat stable job after I'm done with college. Journalism is really competitive and I don't want to become an English teacher. I also don't have the ability to crank out amazing articles under great pressure. Throughout High School, the choice between English and Marketing was always up in the air. When I decided to go with English, it was the right choice at the time. As the pas years passed, I thought about the direction my life was taking and became very unsure of my decision. I understand that it's quite normal to second guess your major, but mine was a bit over-the-top.
So, I went to marketing. There are plenty of marketing firms in Orange County and I know I'll be an asset to any company.
That sounded obnoxious, but I'm hoping it's the truth.
