convertible tablet PCs

20 minutes 'til my Hotel City shift ends and 20 minutes until I can let the internet go and start studying.

Mom is actually considering the tablet PC, and asked me to look for models she can consider buying. But I had such a hard time looking last night (for ones with ok specs/design/price; nothing is perfect, I'm afraid), since I actually kind of suck at numbers concerning technology.

• The HP Touchsmart tm2 is crazy beautiful but they say the touchscreen option is kind of slow? I can probably overlook that, though. Price is the only thing. I'm also concerned about the memory?

• The Toshiba Portégé M780 is... okay, a whole lot cheaper than HP but does anyone else think it's gargantuan? Toshiba computers are FAT. And slow.

• The HP Pavillion tx2500z, I think, does not last very long. 5 hours battery life?

• Going through a ton of computers last night, I can't remember what I heard about Acer Aspire 1420p but it's cheaper than HP, and less glamorous as well but WAY better design-wise than Toshiba.

It's not that I'm looking for glamour, really, just a slicker design that's easy to carry around. I'm wary about Dell and Lenovo because I haven't really tried their stuff out, more so Fujitsu, but irdk. Also, I'm aware that slates would be cheaper but ugh, I'm not willing to give up my keyboard. I don't think I'd need an optical drive, either.

Suggestions? :O Other things I should be considering? I'm kind of lost here.
