Drrr!! 19
I told myself not to write an lj post about Drrr!! 19 because there are far too many questions and a lot of people seemed to hate the episode, but I thought more about it. |D
You know what I love about Izaya? It's that he's such a troll.
This whole episode is, aside from chatrooms, basically showing how much power he has over a situation that not even the people involved can understand (Mikado, definitely, who gets all his information from the man himself; Kida, and him being torn between letting go of his past, and extracting revenge for his friend; and Anri, who thinks she can do something about this whole mess).
Mikado, basically, knows shat about what's going on. For Anri's sake, he's concerned about the identity of the Slasher, but as far as I can see, is being distracted with the number of Yellow Scarves in town. I forget if Izaya is making him think that the Dollars or the Yellow Scarves are responsible for the slashings, but I sort of get a feel that it's, in simplest terms, "Get yourself out as the leader of the Dollars and do something."
As if he can really do anything but that's another part I presume is part of Izaya's plan... to have the three friends confront each other while he watches from the sidelines as chaos ensues.
I have no idea what Anri is trying to do, on the other hand. In her position, being the cause of Saika, and seeing that her friends (the one she knows of, anyway) is getting involved in one of the worst ways possible, I feel that she's trying to find a solution...somehow. She doesn't know the whole story about Kida's relationship to the Yellow Scarves, but seems pretty disturbed... someone she wants to protect, right? That's what Saika's telling her. Even if she is a monster.
And finally, Kida. Kida... is very confused at this point lol. So he's pretty convinced, in a way, that Dollars is responsible for the Slashing attacks. I suspect that he'll go to Izaya at some point, who can then remind him that some Yellow Scarves can be Dollars members, too, but as of now, I'm not sure if he already knows that.
He wants to do his own thing, but people of his past, Anri's situation are dragging him back. But my question is, he was the leader then, and stuff still happened to Saki. Sure it isn't a Blue Square war now, but why does he think that being the leader again can help Anri? I mean, aside from the physical force of being able to find the slasher...he's definitely planning to start a gang war with Dollars.
Izaya is purposely fucking with everything, so coming to a peaceful understanding is out of the question... which is why we need the wild card character.
Some say that Simon had a bigger part outside the anime, so I'm wondering...him and Shizuo. Might be able to affect this. They're, so far, in neutral territory (except...they're both in Dollars), so it would be interesting to know what would happen if they knew what Izaya was trying to do.
Aside from them, what was Shingen Kishitani babbling about before? He could also play a role...
But in general, all of the characters in Drrr!! I feel could have played a humongous role in the plot, are being neglected. |D I definitely need to read the light novel after the anime ends.
