BACKBEAT: Rock the Era

Feb 06, 2010 11:46

Went to school the normal time, 7AM, wandered around a bit and helped with Logistics set-ups until 9AM, then went to look for the rest of my class, in case the scary choreographer was there already.

Turns out she wasn't, but we just practiced non-stop on our own until she did, at 12NN. I don't know what she was thinking, teaching us a new routine 6 hours before the actual concert, but whatever, she did, and we practiced it until 4PM. She left without a word after seeing the whole dry-run on-stage.

So basically, even before the concert, we were all sweaty and gross already. D|

Gates opened at 5PM, and we started to dress up for the batch performance (Leather leggings fffff I felt so naked). We got into our actual class costume (which was Lady Gaga-inspired, with the flashy colors, sequins, and bulky shoulder pads. OH, and we all had full-bangs) at around 6PM, for our scheduled performance at 830PM.

Half an hour before we were supposed to go on, though, there was an accident that involved around 5 of my classmates, one of which nearly lost consciousness and was in shock. Everyone else who saw were just standing around in shock, too. When we found out she wouldn't be able to dance (though understandable), we were all just holding hands and crying.

Our performance got pushed back another hour. But the manager of the SupahDance Crew (John Prats, Gab Valenciano, and someone else xD) was being bitchy and wanted to go first...which prompted us to bump up other acts like Spongecola (why is Yael so nice? I got to take pictures with him and chat about college) and UP Street Dance in courtesy.

So in the end, we performed at 11PM, utterly (would be an understatement) drained (also because we hadn't even had the time to eat lunch and dinner) and all worrying for our classmate (who came back from the hospital just before we got on, to watch us).

It was really difficult to draw any sort of strength from what happened throughout the day, and we royally messed up with the last song's routine, but we're still kinda happy. People are still saying that we had the best choreography and visuals than the other classes. They didn't notice the fumble.

Had to go home immediately after that because Gary Valenciano was taking to effing long (GRRR. I wanted to watch him. BUT I GOT TO SHAKE HANDS WITH YOUR SON. So hot~) and I was really, really too tired to even sit up straight. I actually cried a little on the way back home, as lame as it sounds, because everything was just hurting like hell.

I didn't get to see Shiva (classmates' dance troupe) either. :(

But yeahhh. In the end, it's always fine. Better if no one had gotten hurt, but I guess we'll have to settle with "just fine" for now.

I love my class. I can't even describe how much, or in what way, but I consider myself one of the happiest people alive for getting to spend as much time with them as I do.

I love you Portwogals!! Congratulations to us. ♥
