Physical description:
Ilia is a human female of about 23 years of age. She wears her blond hair about shoulder-length and has golden brown eyes. She stands at about 5’7” and has a wiry build but with slightly above average curves.
As for clothes, Ilia wears an orange vest and mini-skirt with a slit up to her thigh. Under that she wears her black uniform, since the vest could not properly fit over her curves. She also wears a pair of black, fingerless gloves and brown, knee-high boots. She also owns a pair of cheap but stylish earrings Roddick bought her in Haute.
In Landel’s, she’ll remain unchanged physically, but she will (obviously) not have her usual outfit.
Personality:
From the first moment Ilia appears in the game, it’s pretty obvious how naturally gentle she is, almost motherly. When others are distressed, she talks with a softer voice and offers comfort to reassure them. I think the most notable moments of this happen nearer the beginning of the game, where she first meets up with the three Fellpool on Mt. Metorx. When Ronyx tried to talk with the Fellpool teens he only managed to make Millie more suspicious, but Ilia stepped in and calmed them with her sincerity in their wish to help. Also when saving Pericci from the Velkhent pirates the girl mistakes Roddick and Cyuss as part of the pirate gang and Cyuss’ harsh words don’t help. It’s Ilia that shows kindness and treats Pericci gently until she trusts them enough to leave the prison with them.
Ilia’s also very good at reading others. She’s sensitive to their feelings. Although she loves Ronyx, it’s obvious she cares enough about his feelings to not push the subject if he ignores it. And there have been times where she’s needed to remind Roddick to think more about Millie, though he often doesn’t realize what she’s getting at. She also notices Phia’s attachment to Cyuss much earlier than he does.
She’s also cautious, a look before you leap kind of person. She’s constantly aware that her captain isn’t the most reasonable with his plans. When he first discusses the idea of using the Time Gate, Ilia makes sure to remind him they could be given a court martial. She also tries to hold him back when he’s distracted by something shiny in the water at a port city, but she’s unable to keep him from falling in. I guess you could say she’s cautious for the captain’s sake, but she can’t really control his actions. In fact, she’s very loyal to him and would follow him anywhere, which she states in just as many words while traveling to find the Time Gate. It should probably be noted that she’s also cautious when it comes to the others as well, but there are fewer instances in-canon where she has to be this way. One moment that could be considered is the moment the party takes on Welch. Ilia doesn’t trust the girl, but everyone else just lets her join them although they have no idea where she’s from or what her true goals are. She also berates Cyuss and Roddick when they wind up in a bar fight, angry at their lack of caution. She understands the love of liquor, but getting inebriated enough to lose one’s capacity to make the right decisions is unacceptable!
Despite her caution, it’s not to say she’s a stick in the mud. Ilia is generally cheerful and likes to have a good time. You can see this in her love of drink and merriment. Despite being a soldier, or maybe because she is of a military background, she understands the need to cut loose sometimes. She’s had drinking contests with Cyuss and Ashlay, and likes to encourage others to join in, like when she offered to let Roddick try some of her drink although they were having an important meeting at the time.
Although she’s a relatively sweet person, Ilia is by no means perfect. She’s actually easily driven to jealousy by other women. Upon meeting with the captain again, her first move is to scrutinize Mavelle, a women the captain seems to worry about too much in Ilia’s opinion. She also gets a bit peeved when Millie starts to go on and on about all of Mavelle’s physical attributes that she admires. And Welch has been known to tease Ilia mercilessly when it comes to Ronyx-enough that she has run away in her distress or retaliate, which leads to the next point:
She’s also been known to have a small cruel, childish side, especially concerning Welch. Her replies to Welch’s teasing can be rather juvenile, to the extent where she would have a contest to see who could get more men to flirt with them and she has even gotten violent with her. In a PA with T’nique (and if Pericci is in the party) Ronyx once even makes a comment that Ilia is childish in going along with T’nique’s training program and she beats him senseless for that remark. She also found some sort of amusement by making Millie cry when she got into the more gory details of the Cinderella fairytale, though it was not done out of spite like with Welch.
One final note about Ilia’s personality is her mask of confidence. She comes across as very confident in herself, and she is very accomplished for someone so young. However, she admits to Roddick in one instance that fighting in front of a crowd would make her nervous despite being an amazing martial artist. Also, when Millie urged her to flirt with Ronyx, Ilia was very reluctant to try. Even when she did try, Ronyx only disappointed her when he acted oblivious to her attempts. Ilia always manages to keep a smile on her face, but inside she also has doubts that she doesn’t like others to see, a trait that seems to have been inherited by her son, Claude.
