Hey all!

Since things are pretty slow around here, we won't be having a new round every month, but this post will serve as the active post until/if things get busier. The mods are still monitoring things, and we'll still be around, so this isn't to say that we've abanoned the comm and are shutting things down. It just seems a bit silly to keep ( Read more... )

Basing it on something I suspect may (though probably won't) happen.

Infinity War happens, there's a climax and the only way to fix things/save reality is for one of the people close enough to do something that everyone assumes is a suicide run/potentially fate worse than death. While the others are distracted figuring out who, Steve just moves and gets it done. He (thinks he) knows the cost and it's not that he's suicidal, he just genuinely considers himself the most expendable of the group and there is no way that any of them are going to die or suffer if he has any chance at stopping it.

And then he wakes up, back in The First Avenger, either early with the Howlers or right before he goes to rescue Bucky/107th. It basically hit a reset button for him and sent him home, but left him with the knowledge and memories gained from the next several years.

What does he change (I don't think he could manage not to change anything)? Who would he risk confiding in? How bad is the round of culture shock this time, now that he's finally home (which he wanted so much, for so long) and no longer really fits? [How much hell is Bucky gonna cause seeing how hurt his baby brother got, pretty much overnight?]

+He confides in Peggy, who believes him (partly because he sucks at lying to or even deflecting her, partly because he's changed enough in subtle ways that it makes sense)
+The Howlers don't completely refrain from teasing, but they do warn him when something he's doing/saying is weird enough to draw the wrong kind of attention, and have his back with outsiders (he'd almost forgotten what it was to be seen, to trust)
+Something at the end with the future ramifications or at the beginning with other peoples' reactions before it resets
