There were a couple of days of debriefing, for her and him, before she was able to seek him out. She found him in the bowels of the helicarrier, beating seven shades of snot out of a defenceless punchbag as if it were the Red Skull himself. She stood in the doorway watching for a moment, entranced by the grace and power. He was everything she'd expected and more.

"Are you going to actually speak to me, or stand there all day?" Rogers asked. He stopped and grabbed the bag before turning to look at her. She smiled, embarrassed to be caught out.

"I did want to talk to you, to apologise, I guess. But I wasn't sure how to start," she admitted.

"Agent 13, isn't it?" he asked. She nodded. "Don't you have real names?"

"It's Carter. Sharon Carter," she replied. He stared at her and she could see the wheels turning in his head. "She was my grandmother," she answered the unspoken question.

"So she married. Good, I'm glad she wasn't alone."

Sharon approached Rogers and laid a hand on his arm.

"She waited. She came to the US and waited for five years. But they'd declared you dead. She met my grandfather and they fell in love, but she never stopped thinking about you. She spoke of you often when I was a kid," Sharon explained.

He nodded before withdrawing his hand and punching the bag a few more times, this time without any real conviction. He dropped his hands again and looked dejected.

"I'd be happy to talk about her some more, if you'd like to. Maybe over coffee, Captain Rogers?" Sharon suggested. He looked up and smiled.

"I'd like that, Agent Carter. Please, call me Steve."

Aww, Steve. Always thinking of others' happiness before your own. ♥
