Summary: Two master assassins, a demi-god, a super soldier, a man with breathtaking anger management issues and a billionaire in a flying suit. They're supposed to be on the same team ... A series of adult (as in, grown-up) conversations as the Avengers get to know one another beyond fighting side-by-side. Initially written in early 2013, this story was complete until it was obvious that Coulson Lived -- and then one more conversation was needed. Chapter 5 crosses over into Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Initially written in the Spring of 2013, this story cried out for an extension when it was discovered that Coulson did, in fact, live. Thanks to evolving canon this chapter was like working with shifting sands, and so as far as the factual background was concerned I decided to settle it in the small cracks, filling in some unexplained gaps. Much will without doubt be overtaken by more revelations in AoS and The Winter Soldier -- but memory, thoughts and conversations are shards of time and space; the picture emerges when you step back far enough.
