The only fic I remember even slightly like that was actually a Bucky/Clint fic where Clint is the one left on Mars. What do you mean we Left Clint on Mars? by sara_holmes http://archiveofourown.org/works/5044687
No...sorry that's not it. Thank you for responding though! I distinctly remember towards the end, when Bucky was driving the Rover to the MAV, there were two incidents that were so well-written I almost mistook them for the original storyline. The first one was he almost ran into a dust storm which would kill the solar charging batteries; people on Earth could see he's heading straight to the storm but there's no way of telling him that, but luckily he figured it out in time to divert the course. The second one was the Rover flipped upside down when travelling near a crater - this one in particular impressed me a lot and I was surprised to see Mark actually travels to the MAV without any problem.
I know the one you mean, I think--it got pulled from A03, I think because it had too much text from the original novel, and is being revised so it can be posted again. Man on the Wall, or something like that?
The author has said that you can contact her for the un-revised version if you want, and she'll email it to you. link here: http://kcsplace.tumblr.com/ask
