Steve/Tony, Steve thinks he's "out of time" again cameron_mckell February 18 2014, 09:38:59 UTC
Cross-posting my prompt from the cap_ironman 50th anniversary meme on Dreamwidth. Original prompt text is as follows:

'One day, Steve wakes up to hear he'd jumped another 70 or so years into the future. To 'make sure he didn't suffer any permanent damage', the people overseeing his awakening quiz him about his old teammates, what they did, how they did it... how their armor and equipment worked. Soon enough, Steve overhears a strange (suspicious) conversation, and figures out that these people aren't who they claim to be, are in fact pumping him for information about his friends, particularly the Iron Man armor... Hopefully he hasn't actually been whisked away into the future again, when he was just starting to find his way in the present.

Happy reunions at the end would be much appreciated, thank you.'

A couple of requested bonuses:

A long fill would be absolutely, positively, most wonderful. Please.
My kingdom for Steve overcoming the inherent angst of losing everyone again, and trying to break himself out (whether he succeeds and the team is left with a lot of outrage and no outlet, or he doesn't and the team ends up saving him is up to you; I just love the thought of Steve overcoming his supposed 'temporal desolation' and trying to school his 'awakeners').
Lastly, I would also appreciate a somewhat in-depth look at the 'after freedom' moments, like reunions (teary or not, pre-slash to established relationship to whatever), and aftermath (because even though it's over, even though it was all fake, it would probably still mess with Steve's head for a while, and the captivity of a friend/loved one would probably mess with Tony's), maybe addressing the safety of the Iron Man specs, or what have you.

Sorry if this is kind of long.

I love this prompt. I am thinking about it, but it might take a while to start it. Maybe for a Big Bang.
