Tony was pretty badly injured and went to Malibu to recuperate - could be something permanent (blindness or anything really).

Zombie apocalypse happens.

Avengers trek across to try to find if Tony is still alive saving folks on the way.

Tempted to fill. Is OP okay with Phil/Tony? I feel like that'd be an interesting pairing for this situation, Phil leading the zombie killing march to Tony like a badass.
