Basic Reading Comprehension for Internet "Lawyers"

I know I'm about a month late with all this stuff, but with the latest round of the discussion of how fanfiction infringes copyright and all that crap, there are a lot of people being Wrong On The Internet, including lawyers (and I know they're lawyers because they use Bluebook signals and citations) and I'd like to correct one thing ( Read more... )

Heh. I can't wait until I can get someone to make me an icon that says "IANAL... oh, wait, no, I AM a lawyer."

(I have to put that disclaimer on everything that might look like me doing the work of a lawyer or, if THEY find out, I could be banned from taking the bar.)

I remember the days of IANAL well. Dating a 3L leads to confusing situations like that.

Well, I'll be giving legal advice as a Student Lawyer as part of a clinic later this year, just to throw another wrench into the situation. But anyway.

Ooh, you could make one of the iPod icons with a judge with a gavel or something. "iANAL" looks even dirtier than IANAL
