Day Five!

(that handily doubles as a wallpaper, should you desire)

Avendya! You're back! Oh, what a relief.

I've loved being your big sister this week, but today I decided that I didn't want to hog all the Avendya loving to myself. It is my honour to hand over to...

Your friends list!

Dear Avendya,

Unfortunately, I'm rather rubbish at being all warm and fuzzy and complimentary, so this is going to be more or less to the point. But I do want to tell you again, on this opportunity, that you are really smart, funny, multi-talented, enthusiastic, friendly -- all in all, awe-inspiring. I hope that this special week on LJ will bring you all the good cheer and lovely surprises you deserve.

Best wishes,
Aervir

Hi -

I don't actually know Avendya in person; she friended me when she found out I went to MIT, where she's planning on applying to for college.

The last few months of reading her posts has shown me this, though: She's an absolutely awesome person who takes everything that comes her way in stride, and I really admire and look up to her because of it. I'm definitely not the only one, either. ^_^

A drabble from Liz (cherryfeather):

He seemed to be sulking. Rose had been keeping an eye on him for the past half hour, and the Doctor definitely seemed to be sulking. He was sitting curled up in a ball on a large, comfortable chair in the TARDIS library, glasses perched on top of his nose, and his face was twisted into a definite snit over the top of the astronomy book he'd been reading. Of course, he hadn't been reading it for the past half hour--he'd snapped it shut with a snort, and had been brooding since.

Finally, she stopped pretending to read her book and set it down. "Doctor, what's got your sonic screwdriver in a knot?"

"Nothing," he grumbled, shifting position.

"You've been sulking ever since you closed that book."

"I picked this book up," he began huffily, tossing it to her, "in a London bookshop the last time Mickey called you home. I just now got a chance to read it, and I'm definitely very disappointed with some of the changes you apes have been making to the nomenclature of your solar system."

"The what of our what?"

He crossed his arms and looked away, lower lip exaggerated slightly into what definitely looked like a pout. "It's not a planet anymore. You lot don't think it qualifies. It's just a satellite, and I have to say that I'm irritated."

"What's not?"

"Pluto."

"You're sulking because we don't think Pluto's a planet?"

"It was my very favorite planet, Rose."

We should all be very glad Avendya didn't attend Hogwarts when Harry was a firstyear. I mean, Avendua, love ya, sugah, but you would've hogged the hat for ages. You would've just sat there for about an hour, while the hat decided which house to best sort you in to. I mean, you've got intelligence in spades, clubs, hearts and diamonds, syeah, but your ambition ain't exactly a laughing matter, either. Then there's your work ethic, which is honestly scary, and finally there's the amount of bravery you wield when it comes to your sickness.
...Maybe that's why she never got the letter.

You are very inspiring to me, avendya. I admire you for being brave and ambitious and determined in so many ways. I am honored to be your friend, and I pray God blesses you in your endeavors.

Hope you have a great day!

Like I've said before, Avendya, you're amazing. (Yes, you are. Shush.) I enjoy reading your posts, even the emo ones; you're an excellent writer, even if my brain can't quite wrap itself around someone who's good at both sciencey things and English. (This might just be my way of making myself feel better about only being good at one, though.) I hate that you've got this disease to fight with, but I'm so proud of you for not giving up anyway. Praying for you, too. (Also, fancrack > life. You know it is true.)
