Laundry Pile

In a flurry of domestic activity yesterday, Dex and I set out to battle and slay Laundry Pile; an arduous task but a necessary one for us, since we are not exciting enought to belong to a nudist colony. Now some of you may be asking yourselves, "What on earth is Laundry Pile?!" Well, Dex and I haven't completely nailed this one down, however we believe it to be some kind of demon that inhabits the dirty clothes pile in our home.
The beginning of our quest involved gathering up not only Laundry Pile, but all of Laundry Pile's nests, which have lain hidden about our house since we moved in. They were everywhere; in the linen drawers thick with dust, neglected boxes in the closets, even dark corners. Their beady eyes gleamed menacingly from the darkness, reminding me to be cautious; for even as fledgling Laundry Piles, they are still quite dangerous. I've seen whole pairs of socks swallowed and only one ever re-surfaces-- if it is one of the lucky ones. We managed to wrestle both Laundry Pile and the fledglings into two sports bags and a coffin-sized clear plastic tub. Once this was done, hauling them downstairs to my car was a breeze.
Our plan of action, nay it was a plan of attack in truth, brought us to the Chateau De Parents in Windsor. Being both the Fierce She-Huntress and Domestic Goddess that I am, I initiated the sorting of Laundry Piles, the big one and the junior ones respectively. My mother joined me, offering helpful tips on how better the conquer the vicious interlopers of my home. Laundry Pile and the numerous Fledglings were transformed into 4 new Piles; White, Cold Colored, Warm Colored and Jean Laundry Pile. Was this a grave error in judgement, you ask? Indeed not! It was all a part of our clever plan of attack.
When the time came for Dexter to begin the first load, White Laundry Pile loomed formidably before him. Dex, the Mighty Man Warrior, steeled himself against the snarling beast and dove in. White Laundry Pile was destroyed in two loads. Warm Colored Laundry Pile gave up with very little resistance, while Cold Colored Laundry Pile gave us quite a challenge if for no other reason than its sheer volume. Jean Laundry Pile however, was not going down easily. Its method of attack? It simply refused to be dried. Time marched on and the battle went on. It seemed as if we may fail in our quest as a result of sheer exhaustion, however with mountains of self control and a strong desire to succeed, we managed to perservere. FINALLY at the midnight hour, Laundry Pile AND the Fledglings had been slain.

VICTORY!!!
