So, I've been listening to a variety of niche-genre music lately. A lot of it bordering on the creepy side. I thought I'd share. Post to tell me what you think.
Emily Autumn - Angry Feminist. Very Dark, but very talent. Her voice ranges from gutteral, grungy alto with murder on the mind to a sweet, victorian mezzo. Most of her lyrics are social commentary about sexism, social wrongs... but there's a fair mix of the gothic world-angst too. She's also a child prodigy on the violin. Instrumentation rangers from victorian harpshicord to violin to techno.
Gothic LolitaMarry Me Opheliac (Warning: screaming) Stolen Babies - Categorized as Avant Garde and Dark Cabaret... I refer to them as "Keelyn and the Balseraphs gone rock star (which sadly, i think only two of my friends understand >.<. More people need to play fall from heaven 2). Basically... Tim Burton gets depressed and writes music. The leader singer plays accordian, they use a lot of theatrical visuals and kinda seem like evil clowns. It's very... interesting music. If you like The Dresden Dolls, you'll probably like MOST of Stolen Babies. Their older stuff, and a few new songs, are more metal complete with screaming, but it seems they're drifting away from that.
Push ButtonFilistataLifeless Abney Park - Steampunk Band. It's a large band, with multiple singers, and they're theatrical as Hell. Seriously, I said "steampunk band". Why are you still reading? Isnt that enough?! If it isnt, why the hell are you even reading this? Get off my journal you blaspheming heretic!!!!
Just kidding. But yes... they sing about steampunky topic... and they have a distinctly Arabian/Turkish twinge to their music. NOW CLICK THE LINKS!
