So, this thought came to me when I was walking to the store, because I always end up thinking about stupid things on the way to the store.
Anyway!
How would ATLA be different if all the characters were the opposite gender? Everything else remains the same--the plot, worldbuilding, etc.
How would relationships--romantic, familial, friendships, mortal enemies--be affected?
How would shipping be affected?
Would the characters and their actions be perceived differently? How?
Do you think there would be any other differences? Discuss!
Some of my predictions are under the cut.
The NWT's sexism would be seen as less heinous than that of Kyoshi Island. Because as we all know, sexism against women is more serious than sexism against men.
The major shipping war would be between Taang and Kataang. Zutara would be, essentially, the new Sokka/Azula.
Kataang's detractors would not be able to find so much to criticize.
There would be a lot more loli art of Aang... ick.
All interactions between Ozai and Azula would be extremely creepy and Oedipal. This would be what people are talking about when they say "firecest."
Toph would be pretty much the same as she is now. The hair would be kind of different, but everything else would remain unchanged.
