I actually wrote most of this post in a reply in this post but then I thought other people might find it interesting. So here you go! XD Not trying to start any crap, just... thought people might find this interesting since all this movie talk is going on.

Subject: Why characters in Avatar don't necessarily look "Asian", and many look "white."

I agree with everything you've said. If the Avatar wasn't so based on different Asian cultures (and Bryke hadn't spent a freakin year in Korea for the show) I don't think I'd have such a negative response to the casting.

Shout out to Indie movies! The pictures are crap but the plots are usually good :D

YES. I would rather see a really low budget bad-special-effects Avatar movie with great ASIAN actors than this. SIGH. D: And Shamalama... YOU ARE ASIAN. Come onnnnnnnn. D:

I don't know what Shyamalan's damage is; I honestly think he's forgotten the point of the stories or his own family origins or something.

Oh yes, he has lost all rights to anyone trying to figure out how to spell his name :DD
Look, I'd do subtitles for a decent Asian cast...

I don't think this will cause wank. You've put a lot of thought and logic into this. *applauds*

I didn't know anything about the history of anime, so I especially thank you.

I do! Of course, I'm an otaku, too, so I know all this stuff already (all hail Tezuka-sensei!), but it's nice to see someone explain it, anyway. ^_^

Yeah, Avatar is definitely American, but at the same time, it's the ONLY series I've ever seen that I would honestly call ANIME. A lot of American series (and comics) try to imitate Japanese style, but the things that TRULY make something anime isn't JUST the art style, but the way the stories are told, the "camera angles" (I don't know how else to put it hehe) and a billion other subtle differences. Avatar actually gets a LOT of those! (Of course it was primarily animated in Korea, but so are MOST anime these days - cheaper labor, and Korean comics and animation are VERY similar to Japanese in style.)

*Clap. Clap. Clap.*

Wild applause cannot convey my response to this, so you get deliberate applause with, "Amen, sister" nodding going on with it. (Also, the tea in front of me right now is making me calmer so wild applause just seems like too much work when I'm this relaxed. Mmmm, yellow tea...)

I covet your yellow tea. I've never had any. Next time I see you I want some. XD

^_^ Sadly, there shall be none at the graduation party. But there may be at the Passion Party. And if not, maybe that'll be your Random Winter Holiday gift?
