I have re-watched the story. It makes even more sense now. Seeing it a second (or third) time, you begin to wonder why she, all of a sudden, wanted to go to the fountain.
I was also suspect of Jin, especially at the waterfountain the the laterns. As soon as she said the laterns light reflects off the water, I knew they were going to be out. I think it would be interesting to have her as a spy or the such, but I've nothing to add to the conversation.
The, There is no War in Ba Sing Se one? Of course! Credit, please?
I felt her "Oh no! They're aren't lit up tonight?!" was kind of phony. And how she, during Zuko and Iroh's talk about how Jin might be onto them, all of a sudden appears at the register. I think I would like her even more if she was a spy. Puts a little more edge on her character.
Oh wow, that is a very good theory, before the episode aired I thought Jin would have been brainwashed by the Dai Lee to see if Zuko is from the fire nation. Your idea makes sense, they meet at sundown, and on their date that certain night the laterns aren't lit. Zuko wants to make her happy and risks his identity.
I hope this comes out to be true that later it all turns out that the Dai Lee want Zuko.
That whole section seemed weird and rushed. He never said anything about how she "knew", and then she was surprised when the laterns were lit in .5 seconds? Zuko has made a grievous error.
yes. yes a thousand times. I said it before -- the universe hates Zuko. It's not just going to hand him some sweet little girl who throws herself at him 'cause he's hot. (which we have to face the unfortunate truth -- Zuko's hot, but it's not like he's really going to sell well with the scar and the "LEAVE ME ALONE" attitude)
and I don't see the Dai-lee just completely ignoring Jet's crazy rantings. I just can't. :x
I was thinking of making a post about this a coupla days ago, but there isn't much to discuss. I might anyway, but yeah. They have eyes like the Fire Nation, they really stick out...
I like Jin too, and my sister and I thought something similar, that she was essentially a spy. After all, she's the one to show interest, rather suddenly, in Zuko. I'm not saying she isn't perhaps genuinely interested in him, but she could easily be a agent of the Dai Lee (or govt. in general) sent to keep tabs on the accused/suspected/alleged firebenders and to report them. After all, even if the Dai Li want Jet dismissed as a raving lunatic, a utopia-seeking government like that will not dismiss even a lunatic's accusation that someone is a firebender. After all, they want to keep everything relating to the war hush-hush. Since Zuko and Iroh became part of Jet's issue by simply being accused, there's naturally got to be a file on them, probably an agent following them...etc. Jin could easily be that agent
