Summary: Sokka likes berries.

Sokka was perfecting the art of throwing food into the air and catching it in his mouth. This was a skill he promised would be useful in the future, though no one could quite think of a situation where it might be needed. Nevertheless, Sokka practiced day in and day out, with whatever nuts and berries he could find near their campground. On some lucky days, he would buy a bag of lychee nuts at a town they stopped in, but eventually Katara decided it was a waste of money and they were running very low. He found it very hard to do while riding Appa; even though Sokka saw himself as logic-orientated - a thinker - he was never able to factor in the wind speed well enough to make it work. (“You might as well be dumping food off the side! What are you trying to do? Feed the hungry below?”)

But on land he was getting pretty good at it. They were taking a break for once - relaxing, trying to forget about the War. Toph dangled her fingers in the lake as Aang and Katara splashed each other. Sokka tossed berries into his mouth, enjoying the sweet, sticky taste that coated his tongue. He leaned back his head and closed his eyes before throwing the berry. Which each toss his timing and aim got better.

But then, he felt the berry leave his hand and it never landed. He opened his eyes and looked around. He may have miscalculated and overshot. So he tried again but still nothing ever landed. This time, he heard Toph laugh from the edge of the lake.

“Looks like you're not the only one who can learn new tricks,” she said, holding her side and pointing at Sokka - no, at something behind Sokka. He turned around to find Momo, the fur around his mouth tinged blue from stuffing berries in quickly. Sokka puffed out his cheeks, angry and confused. He tossed a berry in the air, almost as a practice, and watched as the lemur jumped to catch it and landed silently, the food already swallowed.

“You could have asked, Momo,” he said, placing a handful of berries in front of the animal. Toph now rolled onto her stomach, still laughing. “I don't know what you find so funny!” Sokka yelled. He threw another handful of berries at the earthbender. They landed on her left arm, still outstretched in front of her.

“You're going to regret that, bird brain.”
