On Boredom

Happiness doesn’t mean that you won’t be bored out of your skull from time to time. Boredom is actually a good thing. It forces us to confront reality and develop serenity. A mentor of mine once told me that “faith” isn’t to be found in the peaks and valleys of experience which were mercurial at best. Faith, in his estimation, was to be developed in the course of the mundane, humdrum nature of our everyday life routine. A rut is a well worn path that need not always be abandoned.
